The Gottman Couple's Workshops

Doctors John and Julie Gottman, featured on Good Morning AmericaThe TODAY Show, Diary of a CEO, and CBS Morning News, are renowned for their groundbreaking research on love and commitment. More than 40 years of research have been distilled into a practical, hands-on couples workshop, known as The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. 

 

These skills apply to any intimate relationship, married or not. Our workshops are psycho-educational and skills based. This is not therapy.

This workshop is not appropriate for couples with severe relationship distress, a history of emotional or physical abuse, active addiction (substance, gambling), untreated history with an affair(s), or other disruptive behaviors. Couples in intense distress will be referred to a clinical counselor.

6 week course - Thursday night - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

3 week course - Saturday morning - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Private Workshops and Lectures

Does your church or other group want to book a private lecture on Gottman or other topics? You can request classes for private groups here.


For private Gottman couples workshops you must have a minimum of 5 couples.


LGBTQ+ welcome. Gottman theory has been researched and shown to be effective for your group.


Relational health youth group lectures require attendees to be 14 years old or older.

Meet Your Instructor

Araxie Jensen has been married for 20 years. She and her husband have six children. With a BA in English, she enjoys writing in her free time. She is a regular blogger for The Garden Refuge.

Araxie has done extensive family history research in the US, Europe and the Middle East. She first discovered the impact of intergenerational trauma and the role of family stories in healing when working as a guest lecturer on family history. 

 

Her passion for family history and intergenerational trauma led Araxie to pursue a career in counseling with a focus in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling. She has completed Gottman Level 1 and Level 2, Couples Addiction Recovery, and Trauma and Affairs Recovery certifications. She is currently in the masters program at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Araxie has developed a multicultural, multi-religion, multidimensional religious and spiritual trauma assessment that is awaiting approval for human trials. She served as a missionary from 1998-1999 in Slovenia, just 8 years after it gained independence from the former Yugoslavia. She knows that faith is precious and personal, and strives to treat everyone's beliefs with reverence.
